Perks of Living in the City

Often, the topic of "city-living" is closely related to high costs, non-stop hustle and bustle, and constant noise.

While this may be true in certain cities, there are several perks to living in an urban area.

Transportation

Naturally, with large numbers of people in an area, various and many transportation systems are expected. Urbanites can easily choose to use their personal vehicle, public transportation, a bike, or simply walk to any of the destination. Of course, the distance has to be taken into.

Diversity

It is common for cities to be full of people from different countries with differing cultural backgrounds, meaning a larger exposure to the diversity of the world. Just from a simple conversation with someone from a different country will give you cultural insights a lot faster than reading a book, for example.

Cuisine

Another perk of living in the city is the variety of food you're bound to come across. Be it Middle Eastern, Caribbean, Italian, or Ethiopian, your cuisine options are endless. Depending on the amount of money you have, and how expensive the establishment is, you can surely have a different dish every day of the week.

Solidarity

When moving to a new area, it's understandable to feel out of place or like a sore thumb that sticks out, but not so much in a city. Cities are essentially filled with strangers which makes you feel less like one yourself. It's possible to gain a sense of comfort from this tidbit.

With many things, there are benefits and drawbacks. In this case, this statement is all the more fitting. In the end, it is up to the individual to decide whether the city life is for them or not.
